(General Fire is not a manufacture of General Fire Extinguishers)

In America, a fire starts in a residential home every 83 seconds. 74% of ALL fires occur in a home just like yours. That's why a fire extinguisher mounted within easy reach is so important as part of your Home Safety Plan.

Halotron I is an environmentally acceptable replacement for Halon 1211. It is a "clean agent" which is discharged as a rapidly evaporating liquid that leaves no residue. Class A and Class B fires can be effectively extinguished using a Halotron I extinguisher.

The Importance of Pressure

Think of what happens when you shake up a bottle of soda then open the cap. The pressure inside the bottle pushes the soda out. The same idea applies to a fire extinguisher. The contents in a fire extinguisher are pressurized, so when you squeeze the trigger, the pressure expels the fire-fighting agent. Without enough pressure the fire extinguisher cannot work properly in an emergency. Never squeeze the trigger to check the pressure in a fire extinguisher! Squeezing the trigger or using the fire extinguisher releases the pressure needed to fight a fire.

Here is the right way to check the pressure on your Fire Extinguisher:

  • If your fire extinguisher has a pressure gauge: Make sure the arrow is pointing anywhere in the area marked "FULL."

  • If your fire extinguisher has a green pressure-check button: Press the green button on the top of the fire extinguisher. If it pops back up your fire extinguisher has adequate pressure.

Non-rechargeable fire extinguishers are intended for one use only. If you use your fire extinguisher even once, you must replace it. It will not be effective in fighting a fire.

Wet Chemical extinguishers contain a special potassium acetate based, low PH Agent developed for use in pre-engineered restaurant kitchen systems. The recent trend to more efficient cooking appliances and use of  unsaturated cooking oils dictates the use of a hand portable fire extinguisher with greater fire fighting capacity and cooling effect to combat these very hot and difficult fires. The attractive stainless steel 6 liter cylinder, with easy to use hose and spray application wand coupled with superior fire fighting agent make the Model 260 the ideal "KITCHEN USE" fire extinguisher. It supplements existing protection for an extra margin of safety.
